How I made a tasty pico de GalloStrand: Creativity & Activity
Today my mother was deciding on what to make to eat.She thought and thought on what to make and decided to do carne asada. While she was making everything i was like i should make something to accompany it.So I decided to make a pico de gallo. It's a really easy thing to do and it doesn't take a lot of things to make it with. The ingredients you use are tomatoes(depends on how much you are gonna do),Little bit of onion, cilantro, lemon, salt & consome(to give it flavor),knife, a cutting board and a javanero to spice it up(optional). You first cut all the vegetables, then you add lemon, consome, & salt to give it flavor. You put everything into a bowl and mix.You can eat pico de gallo with a variety of things.I was so glad everything came out taste and learned the the kitchen might not be my strongest area but you should try it once in awhile ~Loyda Garcia

How I learned to get Stressed Strand: Creativity & Activity
Have you ever tried to do something new? Did your outcome suck, like really badly. Well for me yeah. This week our beautiful teacher Mrs.Thomas taught us how to knit. At first it looked complicated and then it was hard. But once you got the hang of it, it was not that bad. I decided to make a scarf. I was dumb enough to not count the knots so now my scarf so far looks deformed. It looks awe full, but being my first time it wasn't that bad. It takes lots of technique, so much patience, and especially dedication. All of my classmates were all saying it was to take stress away but, I think they found out it was the opposite. I found it very interesting to learn something new. I had already had a little taste of Knitting in 5th grade but not that much. But, now I know way more than before. This was probably one of the most frustrating experiences I've done so far I learned to be patient and hope that in the future become a good knitter. ~Loyda Garcia School Service Day Strand: Activity & Service
On saturday october 28,2017 I volunteered at azusa high to beautify our school. We collaborated with APU freshman that came out to give us a helping hand.We were all divided into groups. Some went to paint the locker rooms, Some did some housecleaning,Others did gardening and other things.Well I arrived with my interact club.We split up into 5 groups 3 in each and I ended up in the gardening group. At 1st I was like it's gonna be fun we are gonna have an awsome time. I’m the type of person who isn't afraid of work. Some of us got assigned to dig holes to plant trees.Three trees to be exact. One of the teachers had asked the office if they had a machine to make the holes but he got told no so we made the holes by hand.At first I started with 2 azusa students making the hole but to our luck we found a pipe and eventually had to divert our hole a different way.The good thing that some APU students came to our rescue and started helping us.We all worked collaboratively together to get the work done. When we were an hour away from being done the same teacher came up and told us we were doing a great job but,to stop digging because the office called to say they were gonna end up bringing a machine to make the holes. When I heard that I almost exploded.I was so frustrated at the fact that I just came to wast my time on digging a hole instead of doing something else to help. What I learned though after I had a talk with my father was that you don't always get what you want.Life is not always fair but, most importantly is not to give up on my studies so I can become something that won't have to deal with digging holes. It was great helping out my school.I might have not done a big difference but with that little work we all did was a big win. What I didn't appreciate after was that my back was sore for about three whole days. ~Loyda Garcia |
